___The Silent Struggle of Anxiety__

Anxiety is something everyone feels at some point. It is a natural response when we face stress or uncertainty. But sometimes, this feeling does not go away, and it gets worse over time. It can make people feel scared, restless, or even sick. Many people in India suffer from anxiety but do not know what is happening to them. Anxiety does not start suddenly. It grows step by step. At first, it may be small symptoms and it became big problem mak you in trouble situation.

A 32-year-old man once came to my clinic feeling helpless. His face was full of worry as he said, “Ma’am, I don’t know what is happening to me. My heart beats fast, I feel restless all the time, and I cannot sleep. I keep thinking something bad will happen. Why do I still feel this way?At first, his worries were small, but they slowly became bigger. He started avoiding social gatherings, fearing that people would judge him. He had panic attacks, which made him feel like he was losing control. Even after doing many medical tests, doctors could not find anything wrong. That’s when he decided to look for psychological help.

Anxiety develops in different stages, starting from mild to severe. In the mild stage, a person may feel nervous or restless in stressful situations, like before an exam or an important event. This usually goes away once the situation is over When anxiety becomes moderate, it starts to affect daily life, causing sleep problems, muscle tension, and frequent worrying. At this stage, people may struggle to relax and feel on edge often. In the severe stage, anxiety becomes overwhelming, leading to panic attacks, dizziness, breathlessness, or a constant feeling of doom. It can interfere with work, relationships, and social activities. If anxiety continues for six months or more and starts controlling a person’s life, it turns into chronic anxiety disorder.

For this patient, I started with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Slowly, he learned to control his thoughts and feel more stable. along with CBT after that I give him mindfulness techniques after this he feel calm and in control of his body.

As the sessions continued, I realized his anxiety was connected to past emotion I used Family Constellation Therapy ( FCT)which helped him see hidden emotional patterns that were affecting him. This therapy was a turning point his panic attacks completely stopped.Even though his severe anxiety was gone, he still had some moments of distress. To help him further, I introduced Jacobson’s Progressive Muscle Relaxation (JPMR). his anxiety became much less. It was no longer severe, and it slowly moved from moderate to mild. He still felt anxious sometimes, but he could control it now.

Anxiety is very common in every han beings but many people do not recognize it or seek help. They think it is just stress or a temporary phase. Some are afraid of what others will say if they visit a psychologist. But ignoring anxiety only makes it worse. While medical science is important to rule out physical problems, emotional health is just as important. If people understand anxiety and get the right help, they can overcome it. With proper treatment, many people can break free from their struggles and live a peaceful life.
